Chains
Who runs India's screens.
1,107 of the 4,264 cinemas belong to a chain. The other 3,157 are independent: family-run single screens, local multiplexes and regional names.
All 31 chains →The single screens
Most of India's cinemas are not in a mall.
800 single screens sell tickets online, and 1,143 of the 1,494 towns on this map have no multiplex at all. Thousands more single screens sell only at the counter; open map data lists 3,864 such places, which we show as unverified because many have closed.

The cinemas that closed.
61 cinemas on this map have evidence of closing: a local check, a record in open map data, or a name that says so. They stay on the map, never in "near me".

Frequently asked questions
How do I find a cinema hall near me?
Open "Near me", allow location or type your PIN code, and we rank the 4,264 cinemas on our map by distance from you, each with directions and a link to its booking page. You can also browse any of 1,494 towns.
How many cinema halls are there in India?
4,264 cinemas sold tickets on BookMyShow or District when we checked on 23 September 2026: 1,112 multiplexes, 800 single screens, 354 twin screens and 1,993 whose screen count the platforms did not show. Many more single screens sell only at the counter. FICCI-EY counted 10,033 screens in India in 2025.
Does CinemaHalls.in sell movie tickets?
No. We are an independent map. Every cinema links to its own page on BookMyShow or District, where the shows, prices and seats are.
Why is my local cinema missing?
A cinema is on the main map when it sells tickets on BookMyShow or District, or when a local check has confirmed it open. Single screens that sell only at the counter may appear in the unverified layer instead. Tell us about it and we will check.
What is the difference between a multiplex and a single screen?
A multiplex has three or more screens under one roof, usually in a mall and often run by a chain such as PVR, INOX or Cinépolis. A single screen is one large auditorium, often an older standalone building and usually independent.
How fresh is this information?
The listings were read from BookMyShow and District on 23 September 2026. Every page shows the date its facts were checked, and screen counts are floors: the screens that had shows that day.
