In short

CinemaHalls.in has no accounts and shows no advertising. It sells data packs; if you buy one we keep what the purchase and the tax law need, as set out below. We keep what you choose to send through the report form, for a limited time, and a short-lived counter that stops that form being abused, and we measure page use as set out below. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Your location

"Near me" asks your browser for a position only when you press the button. The position is used inside your browser to sort cinemas by distance and is never sent to us. A PIN code you type is looked up the same way, in your browser.

Analytics

Umami counts page views and a few actions, such as finding the nearest cinema. It is run by the same company on its own server (analytics.apexlayer.in) and records the page address, the referring link, your screen size, browser and operating system, and an approximate location (country, region and city) worked out from your IP address, which it does not keep. It sets no cookies.

Google Analytics measures how the site is used. It sets cookies and sends usage data, including an identifier for your browser, to Google.

Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used, such as clicks, taps and scrolling, and can replay a visit as a recording or show it in a heatmap. It sets cookies and sends that data to Microsoft. The checkout and report forms are masked from it: what you type there is not recorded.

There are no advertising trackers.

Reports you send

The report form stores what you enter (the cinema or page, what changed, details, and a town and email if you give them) with the time and your browser's user-agent string, so we can check the report and reply. It is kept for up to 180 days and then deleted automatically. An email you give is used only to reply to you about that report. Write to privacy@cinemahalls.in to have a report deleted sooner.

Buying a data pack

At checkout we collect your name, email, mobile number, state, and your organisation if you give it; if you want a B2B invoice, also your GSTIN, registered business name and billing address. We use them to deliver the files, issue the GST tax invoice, and answer you about the order, and for nothing else: no newsletters and no sharing for marketing.

Razorpay processes the payment and receives your contact details from its own checkout; we never see your card, bank or UPI details, only a payment reference. ZeptoMail (Zoho) sends the email with your files. Order records and your files are stored on Cloudflare. We keep order and invoice records for eight years, as India's GST law requires us to keep tax records; the download links stop working after 30 days. A hashed form of your network address is kept with the order to stop checkout abuse.

Stopping abuse of the form

To stop the form being flooded, the site counts submissions from each network address per hour. The counter stores a one-way hash of the address, not the address itself, and deletes itself after about an hour.

Hosting and map tiles

The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Background map tiles load from quickcommercemap.com, a map service run by the same company, which receives the same technical details when your browser asks for a tile. Links to BookMyShow, District, Google Maps and Apple Maps take you to those services, whose own privacy policies apply.

Cookies and storage

Your recent searches are kept in your browser only. We set no cookies of our own; the analytics services named above set theirs.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see the personal data you sent us, have it corrected or erased, and raise a grievance about how we handled it. Write to privacy@cinemahalls.in; we aim to reply within 48 hours. If our answer does not resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. The data is held by Apexlayer Technologies Private Limited.
