The East and North-East India pack: questions

What is in the East and North-East India data pack?

457 cinema halls in 216 towns, one row each with 42 columns: name, chain, type, screens and seats with shows, formats, amenities, languages, address, area, PIN code, district, coordinates, the people living within 2, 5 and 10 km, the other halls within 5 km and the nearest one. The workbook also has towns, areas, pin codes with cinemas, states, districts, chains, places without a cinema and all pin codes sheets, an About sheet and a data dictionary. You get it as an Excel workbook and as CSV.

Is it every cinema hall in East and North-East India?

It is every cinema hall in East and North-East India that sold tickets on BookMyShow or District on 23 September 2026, the day we read the listings, which covers the multiplexes and most single screens that sell online. Single screens that sell only at their counter are mostly missing: no ticketing platform lists them, and open map data lists many that have closed (a street check in Jaipur found 16 of 18 closed), so we leave those out rather than sell guesses.

How current is it?

This is the September 2026 edition: listings read on 23 September 2026. Cinemas open, close and change what they offer, so treat it as the picture on that day. Screens and seats are floors: the screens with shows that day.

Where do the population numbers come from?

WorldPop's 2020 population grid for India (1 km cells, CC BY 4.0), summed inside circles around each hall and inside India Post's PIN boundaries. It is a model, rounded to the nearest 100, good for comparing places rather than for exact counts.

How do I get the files?

Pay by UPI, card, netbanking or wallet through Razorpay. The download buttons appear as soon as the payment goes through, and the Excel workbook, the CSV and your GST invoice arrive by email at the same time. The download links work for 30 days.

Do I get a GST invoice?

Yes, every order. The invoice is issued by Apexlayer Technologies Private Limited (GSTIN 06ABDCA5480F1ZT). Add your GSTIN and registered address at checkout and it is a B2B invoice you can claim input tax credit on. The price is ₹5,999 + GST: ₹7,078.82 in all.

What can I do with the data?

Use it inside your organisation as you like, and publish findings, charts, maps and totals made from it with the credit line in the file. What you cannot do is resell, share or republish the rows themselves. The full licence is at cinemahalls.in/data-licence.

What if something is wrong with the files?

Reply to the delivery email and we fix it. If the files do not open, never arrive, or do not match what this page describes, you get a full refund. We do not refund a change of mind, which is why the free sample and the previews here show exactly what the rows look like.

Can I get a different cut?

A district, a chain across India, a list of towns, a refresh every month: write to data@cinemahalls.in with what you need and we will quote.
